I think some people here see “200 characters” and assume it’s a huge chunk of text, or are confusing “characters” for “words.” 200 characters refers to letters and punctuation and not the words. This short paragraph is 200 characters long.(^ Excluding spaces and the Quote BBCode. Including spaces is 239 characters.)
Honestly, it may be my love for writing and reading, but I like this suggestion. Scratch’s Suggestion forums are to share ideas in the hopes that the Scratch team will see them, and if you want that idea to actually be implemented you should be elaborating on it. Scratch doesn’t implement suggestions based on Support / No Support ratios after all: there should be something in the OP to try and convince the Scratch team to implement your suggestion, or implement it properly. (What if you don’t elaborate, and everyone completely misunderstands your suggestion?)
Plus, Scratch is an educational website, and there's argument made that forcing a minimum character limit could help with practicing important skills such as communicating and elaborating on your ideas, or using logic and evidence to support your ideas.
(Above argument is 132 words and 687 characters, excluding spaces. Characters do not take up a lot of space at all.)
This amount is 201 characters, excluding spaces. There is no need to spam so much. Please add dark mode pneumonoultramicroscopicsillocovolcanoconiosis pneumonoultramicroscopicsillocovolcanoconiosis pneumonoultramicroscopicsillocovolcanoconiosis pneumonoultramicroscopicsillocovolcanoconiosis
I would say the only thing to add onto this suggestion is a character counter when typing in Suggestions since people keep heavily overestimating 200 characters.
